A Richmond, Virginia Guide to Holiday Shopping

Attention, holiday shoppers! Whether you choose to shop Downtown, in the West End, North Side, South Side, or East End, if you seek, ye shall find! In RVA, we’ve got everything from high-end national chains to tiny boutiques to hidden-in-the-country antique stores. 

The suburbs are home to every store you can imagine, plus shopping malls like Chesterfield Town Center and Stony Point Fashion Park, which feature luxury brands like Saks and Tiffany & Co. Short Pump Town Center is also a great place to shop for top retailers, fashion and accessories, and home decor stores. The kids will have fun riding the festive train that winds its way throughout the mall! 

For the seventh year, the Over the River Makers Mart Holiday Market, in North Chesterfield, took place over two days on Black Friday (November 25th) and Small Business Saturday (November 26th). Each day included different, talented local vendors and small businesses to support during the holiday shopping season. 

At Stony Point Fashion Park you will find the only holiday shopping experience that encourages you to purchase and enjoy adult beverages while shopping! The many pop up vendors set up indoors, directly across from the ice rink. You’ll find dozens of rotating artisans, crafts, and other local business vendors to peruse and from whom to purchase, along with spiked hot cocoa, wine, beer, and other spirits to enjoy while shopping. Expect to see a variety of vendors whose wares include jewelry, woodworking, candles, soaps, beauty products, sports memorabilia, home goods, books, wreaths and other crafts, desserts, food, and more! There is no cover charge to attend. This special event begins Black Friday and runs every Saturday and Sunday through December 18th. Here is a full list of participating vendors.

For true craftsmanship and one of a kind finds, you’ll probably want to head to Carytown, where there is an eclectic collection of locally owned shops and boutiques. The Carytown Open Air Christmas Market offers a variety of gifts and goods, including jewelry, furniture. 

If you have not yet checked out The Richmond Night Market, the holiday season is the perfect time to visit. The RNM will host a series of holiday villages, featuring repeat vendors and new artists at various locations, every Saturday in December through the 19th. The market is nestled in the heart of Shockoe Bottom at the 17th Street Market. It highlights creativity, diversity, commerce, and community at this significant historical site. It is a staple experience in the city, that is free, family friendly, and a truly social shopping experience!

There is truly something for everyone during the holiday season in Richmond. The Carytown Holiday Artisan Market will take place December 11th and 12th where the Carytown Farmers Market is transformed into an art show featuring handmade gifts, live music, and food vendors. If you fancy emerging fashion, check out local shops like Verdalina and Na Nin. And, if you’re interested in thrifting, Carytown has that covered with high-end vintage shops and antiquing spots.
